| “Pettit Racing’s Forced Induction System puts the Mazda RX8 on par with Great Road Cars of the World”
300+hp and over 200lb-ft the RX8 is now a force to be reckoned
Over two years of R & D with road and track testing:
Our PCM-FI recal kit is the result of several years work,
benefits include: Superb drivability, and clean smooth rock solid
acceleration through the entire RPM range. Also with the stock PCM
and fully functional OBD II diagnostics, there is no check engine
light unless something is actually wrong. Another benefit is that
your Mazda dealer can still perform full diagnostics and service
since all the oem sensors are still in use. Also most OBDII
compatible scan tools can perform full system scans and clear codes;
this is not the case with most other systems especially piggyback
units. The PCM-FI recal kit includes:
1
Pettit Billet cnc
machined MAF tube
1 K&N air filter
1 EFI Dude logger device
1 Pettit FI recal file
1 Installation Diagram
1 MAF tube
installation kit containing:
1 silicon transition
hose connector
2 clamps,
1 bleed hose connector
kit
1 1/8 npt 3/8 hose 90
fitting
1 1/8 npt 5/16 hose 90
fitting
1 1/8 npt plug
1 composite 3/8 hose
"T"
1 piece 5/15" hose
1 piece 3/8"
hose
1 Ty wrap kit
Included with every PCM-FI recal kit
is an EFI Dude Logger device, it has two functions, it is used to
upload our recal file, and also is used to log/record over 2 hours
of engine data at 5 samples per second capturing all vital engine
functions including speed, temperature, throttle position, RPM, air
fuel, lambda, fuel trims, mass airflow and more. The logged data is
easily downloaded and analyzed, software included. Download the
software at
www.efidude.com. The MAF (mass
airflow) is measured and recorded in grams per second, this data
relates directly to the engines condition/efficiency and performance
level, thus hp gains and loses can easily be determined, it’s like
having your own mini dyno. You can also print and/or email the
recorded data for review and/or comparisons with other enthusiasts
and club/forum members.
The device also makes for quick diagnosis of both
consistent and inconsistent problems; they are easily identified in
the logged data making repairs simple and easy.
Another benefit from this technology is to use the logging
device to record data from track events, autocrosses, rallies, etc.
From this you get the max values for temps, revs, MAF, speed etc. as
well as corner entry speeds and shift points; it’s like having an
onboard data acquisition system.
The PCM-FI recal kit
includes
everything needed to install our PCM-FI recal file and all the
fittings and hose for either a standard crankcase vent setup or a
catch can/vent type setup... the latter being required at many track
events.
Customers involved
in racing and/or track events may consider using a water/methanol
injection system to help keep charge temps under control in extreme
conditions. We are now testing W/M injection setups that become
active when charge temps reach a set point; we hope to have these
kits available soon. Until then operating under these conditions
where engine and charge temps increase may result in a slightly rich
mixture, so far this is no problem and may actually be a benefit, a
slightly rich mixture should help cooling by reducing combustion
temperatures.
